    Midnight

    Picture
Midnight was living as a stray cat in a high traffic area of Belfast before coming into Tenth Life care.  He is a sweet, sensitive guy who gets along well with other cats.  He tends to be somewhat fearful of strangers, but once he gets to know a person, he is very affectionate.  If you would like to know more about Midnight, contact Tenth Life today!  Or, if you would like to adopt him, please fill out an adoption application.

    Bella

    Picture
    Bella is an amazing cat!
Although she has been with us for over two years, this lovely little girl hasn't given up on people.  She still believes that somebody will look into their heart and find the love to give her a chance.
Bella is a young adult cat.  Just over threeyears old, she started out life in a barn colony.  Bella wasn't a typical barn cat; she has always been outgoing and very, very affectionate.  She wants nothing more than to be loved.  Bella is loving, playful and all around nice.  She likes other cats and gets along quite well with dogs.

Bella has FIV, so she needs a home that will be attentive to her health.  As a result of her FIV, Bella is only available for adoption to a home where she will be kept inside full-time.  The risk of her infecting another sterilized cat is very slim.  She doesn't currently need any special treatment for her FIV.  She does, however need to stay up to date with her shots and limit exposure to any illnesses that might further compromise her immune system.
If you have room in your heart, this little lady would love to stretch out there!

    FIV Facts:
    1. The Feline Immuno-deficiency Virus is a slow virus that affects a cat's immune system over a period of years.
    2. FIV is a cat-only disease and cannot be spread to humans or other non-felines.
    3. FIV cats most often live long, healthy, and relatively normal lives with no symptoms at all.
    4. FIV is not easily passed between cats. It cannot be spread casually - like in litter boxes, water and food bowls, or when snuggling and playing. It is rarely spread from a mother to her kittens.
    5. The virus can be spread through blood transfusions, badly infected gums, or serious, penetrating bite wounds. (Bite wounds of this kind are extremely rare, except in free-roaming, unneutered tomcats.)
    6. A neutered cat, in a home, is extremely unlikely to infect other cats, if properly introduced.
    7. Some vets are not educated about FIV since the virus was only discovered 15 years ago.
    8. FIV-positive cats should be kept as healthy as possible. Keep them indoors and free from stress, feed them a high-quality diet, keep and treat any secondary problems as soon as they arise.

    Carter - Adopted!!

Poor Carter!  He has had such a tough life so far.  He was one of the first cats our volunteers rescued from a cow barn in Waldo.  (Before we were even incorporated yet!)  Carter lost his left eye to a seriously bad upper respiratory infection.  He also had to have claws removed from both of his front paws.  He had so many extra claws that they wrapped around his paws and dug into his paw pads.  Despite his early health issues, he is now a happy, loving cat.  He enjoys the company of other cats, even greeting and seeming to welcome new cats into his foster home.  He likes children and enjoys the company of dogs.  He is slightly nervous with strangers, but once he knows a person, he is more than loving.

Since being in Tenth Life care, poor Carter has been adopted three times and returned each time.  None of these failed adoptions have been his fault.  His first adoptive family divorced and he got caught in the middle.  His second, a very elderly man, suffered a decline in mobility and, finding himself needing help with his own care, realized that he would be unable to care for a cat.  His third adopter returned him because he was being bullied by another cat in her home.

Poor, poor Carter.  Everyone at Tenth Life really wishes we could find a great FOREVER home for him.  Will you be the person who helps him to turn his luck around?  If you think you can be the person Carter needs to turn things around, please complete an adoption application or contact us today!

    Gabrielle

    Picture
Gabrielle is about three years old.  She is a very affectionate girl who loves to snuggle just a little more than she likes to play!  She came from a feral colony, so she still has some trepidation with new people, but once she gets to know a person, she is a tremendous love bug.  Gabrielle also really, really enjoys the company of other cats and gets along quite well with dogs.  Because quick movements and loud noises frighten her, we feel she would be best suited to a home without very young children.  If you would like to give Gabrielle her happily-ever-after, please fill out an adoption application today!

    Rita

Rita is a very sweet 3 year old girl. She loves to snuggle and is fond of children. Unfortunately, she also loves food, and has way too broad a definition of what is food. She has a particular taste for plastic objects. Rita also sometimes shows her affection with love nips. She never bites hard, but she does nibble on fingers and hands... usually after giving a few kisses. Rita has personality aplenty and is surprisingly lovable in light of her quirks. Rita would do well in a home where she was an only cat or one of just a couple. Although she isn't fond of dogs, she doesn't go out of her way to make trouble with them. If you would like to learn more about Rita, or if you would like to adopt her, please contact Tenth Life today!
